Bebop Poetry

Bebop Poetry is a Dutch band formed in 2021, blending spoken word, jazz, and storytelling. The group features spoken word artist Kenny Gomes, saxophonist Martijn van Ditshuizen, bassist Lars Hoogland, drummer Rafael Slors, and pianist Gabo Vos.

Kenny and Martijn met during the theatre production Cirkels 2.0, where Kenny shared his personal story. Their creative bond led to the founding of Bebop Poetry, whose sound fuses jazz and poetry into powerful narratives. Inspired by Kenny’s third theatre production, the band explores themes of intergenerational trauma, addiction, and the search for heroism—always with a message of hope and healing.

Beyond their own shows, they created The Jazz Lounge: evenings where contemporary artists collaborate with jazz musicians, fostering fresh artistic crossovers in the Dutch music scene.
